Training & capacity building

How can an organization address health and social inequities?  What kinds of tools and training do they need to understand, act on, and work across sectors to reduce inequities? How do you use resilience framework to inform your strategic plan and outcomes?

More and more people, organizations and systems are recognizing the principles of social justice, equity, and resilience; yet are limited by sufficient knowledge/skills of staff who are trained in putting such principles to practices. They need ongoing professional development or trainings with technical assistance that provides them with simple easy to use tools, techniques and practices that they can use. It is unrealistic to expect goals and outcomes to change, when majority of staff do not intrinsically understand the root causes of social inequities, let alone how best to deal with them.

Our vision is develop such a training unit within DNA that has a standard set of training curricula and tools that can be shared with and adapted to various organizations cultures. We have some experience developing and providing culturally appropriate trainings and coaching in the ares of breastfeeding, Promoting data use, putting empowerment evaluation to practice, cultural competence, Epidemiology 101, Community Building, and Introduction to Resilience.  We hope to build a strong training unit, perhaps in partnership with other trainers, that work with school staff, nonprofits, health and justice organizations, system and community leaders and others to provide a range of meaningful training curricula.

Please contact us for samples or to discuss possible ways to partner together towards shared vision.
