Alison K. Cohen, PhD, MPH
Research Associate Trained in both education and epidemiology, Cohen’s work spans education, health, juvenile justice, civic engagement, and the urban environment, both domestically and internationally. She has worked with both nonprofit programs and research initiatives to this end, doing both quantitative and qualitative work. |
She has published papers on links between urban planning, public health, and education; education as a social determinant of health; youth civic engagement; social capital; and community-level and individual resilience in urban settings. Cohen also has published on European Union and transatlantic environmental health policies. She received a Fulbright scholarship to study EU policy implementation, a Morris K. Udall scholarship for her work in urban environmental health and education, and UC Berkeley's Roselyn Lindheim award for her work linking education and public health in the urban environment.
Cohen received a BA in education policy and BA in community health at Brown University and an MPH in Epidemiology and Bio-statistics from University of California Berkeley. She received her Doctorate in Epidemiology from University of California, Berkeley. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and reading the next book for her book club.
