Alison K. Cohen, PhD, MPH
Research Associate Trained in education and epidemiology, Cohen’s work spans education, health, juvenile justice, civic engagement, and the urban environment, both domestically and internationally. To this end, she has worked with nonprofit programs and research initiatives, doing both quantitative and qualitative work. |
She has published papers on links between urban planning, public health, education, education as a social determinant of health, youth civic engagement, social capital, and community-level and individual resilience in urban settings. Cohen has also published on European Union and transatlantic environmental health policies. She received a Fulbright scholarship to study EU policy implementation, a Morris K. Udall scholarship for her work in urban environmental health and education, and UC Berkeley's Roselyn Lindheim award for her work linking education and public health in the urban environment.
Cohen received a BA in education policy and, a BA in community health at Brown University and an MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her Doctorate in Epidemiology from the University of California, Berkeley. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and reading the next book for her book club.
