Assessments & surveys
How big is the problem? Who is most affected? What resources, relationships and opportunities already exist that we can leverage?
To identify the scope and magnitude of the problem, internal and external barriers, and strengths, it is important to engage and understand your communities' unique voices, needs, and concerns and build on what's working well to address what's not.
We use a participatory needs assessment process, SWOT analysis, mapping, etc., to examine the problem's depth and breadth, underlying root causes, and assets. This almost always involves doing literature reviews to understand better what research and best practices are out there. This may include reviewing existing data and reports and doing surveys and interviews with impacted community members and key stakeholders. We have extensive experience designing culturally adapted survey instruments based on multidisciplinary knowledge and theories across fields, working closely with practitioners, testing psychometric properties of surveys, producing short or long-community-friendly needs assessment reports, and sharing results with a diverse group of key stakeholders to ensure data is meaningful and used to identify most effective solutions.
