Maternal and Child Health
DNA staff have worked extensively in the area of maternal and child health (MCH) as an epidemiologist, planner, evaluator and trainer. We have worked with County and State government systems locally with multiple MCH programs such as Black Infant Health, WIC, Nutrition Services, Prenatal Services, Breastfeeding, Perinatal Substance Abuse, Injury Prevention, Oral Health, Domestic Violence, Father's Health, Pregnancy Prevention & Adolescent Sexual Health. We have analyzed and produced numerous MCH data trends, and Fact Sheets examining disparities for specific racial/ethnic groups, Data Reports working closely with countywide collaboratives of program directors, and 5-year Needs Assessment and Strategic Plan based on state requirements.
In addition, DNA staff have developed and conducted trainings to 1,000s of providers and hospital staff in Latin America, and provided coaching and technical assistance in different languages and cultural contexts on breastfeeding practices.
We are very familiar with common indicators and datasets used to measure progress across MCH programs. We can augment existing data reports and analyses, as well as conduct specialized studies examining MCH inequities and upstream risk factors for instance. We hope to increasingly engage in international projects that focus on improving health and human rights of mothers and young children from prenatal to infancy to early childhood and beyond.
