Violence Prevention
One of our strongest areas of expertise and experience is in violence prevention (VP) whether working directly with VP programs in schools or government agencies, or conducting research studies, evaluations or preparing data reports (see samples below) particularly in the areas of community violence, dating violence, and domestic violence.
For example, We are currently leading the evaluation of a restorative justice program in a large urban school district, examining teen dating violence within the context of neighborhood conditions and school climate, and producing numerous data reports on domestic violence, homicides, assaults etc for county public health department. We have also led a resilience research study among youth exposed to community violence funded by National Institute of Justice, as well as conducted multilevel longitudinal analyses examining role of protective factors in building domain-specific resilience among youth exposed to community violence over time Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods.
We are intimately familiar with datasets, indicators and efforts within police department, probation department, city human services, juvenile justice systems, schools and community-based organizations and groups that work on violence prevention efforts.
We specialize in measuring root causes or social determinants of violence and its disproportionate impact on communities of color, evaluation of restorative justice and innovative holistic violence prevention programs, measuring resilience, and examining longitudinal trajectories and change over time among youth exposed to violence. We use success stories, photos, poems, case studies to create simple community-friendly reports to conduct advanced statistical analyses to prepare technical reports for federal grants or program evaluations.
